Never booked a sweep before?
We've outlined the process below, along with answers to common questions about pricing, certificates, and maintenance.
What happens during a chimney sweep?
Chimney sweeping still carries a soot-covered Victorian image for many people.
Modern equipment allows chimneys to be cleaned efficiently while keeping mess and disruption down to a minimum.
While no two chimneys are exactly alike, our sweeping process follows the same careful routine every time.
1. Protecting the area

First, we protect the area around the fireplace with dust sheets. We then secure a specialist sheet over the open fireplace with either magnets or tape, depending on the appliance.
2. Sweeping the chimney

If we haven’t visited your property before, we’ll carry out a smoke test to ensure the chimney is drawing correctly and that smoke exits safely.
Once we’ve confirmed everything is working as it should, we use rotary equipment to clean the chimney, while industrial vacuums collect falling soot throughout the process.
3. Final tidy
Once the sweep is over, we brush and bag any remaining debris – before ensuring the area is clean and tidy.
By the time the job’s finished, the clean chimney should be the only sign we were ever there.

Beat the autumn rush
Nobody is going to mistake Glasgow for the south of France, but the Scottish summer is usually warm enough to leave fireplaces unused for some time.
Before long, colder evenings return – along with a seasonal rise in chimney sweep bookings across Glasgow and the West.
Many customers choose to arrange a sweep during spring and summer so their fire or stove is ready for heavier winter use.
